Internationalization (i18n)

Each team member picks the dashboard language for themselves. The language the widget and the bot use with a customer is chosen separately.

Dashboard language

  • The dashboard comes in Russian and English.
  • Switch the language at the bottom of the sidebar or in “Profile → Language”. A choice made in the profile is saved to the account. See Language switching.
  • The choice is personal: it doesn't affect other project members or the language customers are answered in.
  • Account system emails (sign-in, invitations, billing) arrive in the user's language when the email has an English version, otherwise in Russian.

Language for customers

  • The widget speaks Russian or English. The language is set in “Widget Builder → Brand → Widget language”. Always Russian and Always English show every visitor one language. Auto (the default) takes init({ locale }) or the data-locale attribute if your site sets one; otherwise the page's <html lang>, then the browser language, but only if the project's texts exist in that language; otherwise the project's main language. So a visitor with an English browser won't get an English interface around the project's Russian texts. See Brand and header and Installation.
  • The Telegram bot answers in the customer's language when it knows it, otherwise in the bot's default language, or in Russian if none is set. The bot's languages are set in the bot builder.

Your own texts

“Settings → Texts & broadcasts → Interface Texts” lets you replace the standard texts with your own, separately for each language (the Language switcher). You can also add a custom locale to the project's catalog there. Per-language texts work for the Telegram bot, the widget (it takes the edits for its own language) and the system messages customers get, which go out in the customer's language, Russian or English. A language with no edits of its own gets the standard texts. VK texts are still taken from the Russian version only.

Auto-translating conversations

If customers write in another language, turn on auto-translation in “Settings → Operator tools → Translation”: customer messages are translated into the Agents' language (Customer → agent), and operator replies into the customer's language (Agent → customer).

These docs come in two languages too: Russian at /docs/… and English at /en/docs/….
